There's something different about this Snoopy...

It was a dark and stormy night...well, not really, but it seemed the only way to start writing about how World Tour Snoopy came to be. It was actually a bright and sunny day and I was working as Director of Admissions for a private college. Right before the class of 2002's graduation day, one of my students gave me a plush Snoopy dressed in a graduation cap and gown. Since I had quite a few Snoopy items displayed in my office, she knew it was the perfect “Thank You” gift! Snoopy looked like any other graduation Snoopy sold at Hallmark. However, this Snoopy turned out to be different from all the others I own…

I was getting ready to attend the graduation ceremonies and as I was putting on my traditional black cap and gown, I realized Snoopy was also dressed for the occasion. So he was smuggled into the ceremonies and he got his picture taken with many of the graduates. Snoopy posed with the honor roll students and the photo was published in the local newspaper! The photographer asked me what Snoopy was going to do after graduation, I jokingly said he would take some time off to enjoy the beach and then he would get a job.

The graduation pictures were so funny, I decided to take him to the beach to get some more pictures to share with fellow Peanuts collectors online. So, after I checked "Snoopy's Summer Break" off my list, I got him a job tutoring at the college. Unfortunately, the "No Dogs Allowed" rule was enforced, so he needed to find a new job. Sandy from Snoop2Nuts took pity on him and agreed to hire Snoopy to assist her filling orders. While employed at Snoop2Nuts, Snoopy had a little trouble with some shipping tape, and then he got into some mischief and had to come home. The photos Sandy took of him trying to hold down a 9-to-5 job should serve as a warning to anyone thinking of hiring a plush Snoopy!

As I said earlier, this Snoopy was different…he seemed restless and was not content sitting on a shelf in the guest room with my Peanuts collection. I had to find something for him to do now that he was no longer bound by a job (or shipping tape). After sharing his photos with other Peanuts collectors online, they started asking if Snoopy could visit them too. Peanuts fans have been showing Snoopy a great time since 2002 and that is how this peripatetic plush became known as World Tour Snoopy!

I am just learning how to create a blog - so bear with me...I will add photos and travel diaries from his adventures, so be sure to come back again!
